(Latrobe, PA) First-year Butler County Community College men’s golfers Johnnie Mikos and Brett Bartholow shot their lowest scores of the fall Monday, but the Pioneers lost for the first time this season in a tri-match.

Mikos led BC3 (7-3-1) for the first time this fall with a 6-over 76 and Bartholow added a 79 at Glengarry Golf Links in Latrobe, where the Community College of Allegheny County posted a 309, Westmoreland County Community College a 313 and the Pioneers, a 323.

Mikos entered the match averaging 86.25 and cut 3 strokes off his best score this season, and Bartholow had averaged a 92.67 and shaved 7 strokes.

Westmoreland’s Noah Dubyak finished as medalist with a 71 and for the first time this fall in tri-matches among the three programs. Allegheny County’s Connor Jacobsen placed second with a 72 and teammate Kayden Lyons third with a 74.

Mikos finished fourth, CCAC’s Mack Dempsey fifth with a 77 and Bartholow tied for sixth with Westmoreland’s Johnny Lovre.

Westmoreland’s Gunnar Shoop finished eighth with an 80; the Pioneers’ Colt Sprankle ninth with an 81 and Westmoreland’s Shaun Kovan 10th with an 83.

The lowest four individual scores from each squad are counted to determine a team total.

The remaining lowest four scores for each team were posted by Allegheny County’s Henry Simcox, who shot an 86; and BC3’s Carter Blystone and Ryan Conaway, who had 87s.

Mikos is a graduate of Cardinal Mooney, Youngstown; Bartholow, of Connellsville; Sprankle, of Knoch; and Blystone, Conaway and Dimun, of Butler.

The Pioneers’ fall golf season concludes with the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference championship tournament. BC3’s spring season features regional play, regional tournaments and possible national championship appearances where golfers compete for All-American status.
