(Butler, PA) Addison Say had a season-high 37 assists and Mackenzie Kurtz had three solo blocks for the second consecutive match as the 12th-ranked Butler County Community College volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit Wednesday night to defeat Point Park University’s junior varsity squad and move to 12-2.
Taylor Simon led BC3 with 22 digs and Emmy Fisher and Kurtz with 12 kills each as the Pioneers rallied from an initial two-set deficit to post a (24-26), (21-25), 25-23, 25-19 and 15-9 victory in the Field House on BC3’s main campus in Butler Township.
Madison Nosel added 10 kills and Julia Stoepfel a season-high two solo blocks for BC3, which won its fifth match in a row and advanced from No. 13 to No. 12 among 86 National Junior College Athletic Association Division III programs in a Week 6 poll released Oct. 6
BC3’s program has been ranked in the Top 15 in Division III of the National Junior College Athletic Association in 43 of 47 polls dating to Oct. 4, 2021, including the past 23 in a row.
Say leads the Pioneers with 350 assists this season, Nosel with 178 kills, Simon with 234 digs and 32 service aces and Kurtz with 17 solo blocks.
Say is a setter and opposite hitter and Keystone High School graduate; Kurtz, is a middle hitter and Knoch graduate; Simon, a defensive specialist, Butler; Fisher, an opposite hitter, Seneca Valley; Nosel, an outside hitter, Warren; and Stoepfel, a middle hitter, Grove City.
